Hello Jeanne!
Who knew wisdom could come from two sticks with pads and rubber bottoms???
Today is the day I begin to bid farewell to the crutches that have provided mobility as well as frustration over the last two months.
As I reflect on this experience, there is some clear wisdom I have received from these unexpected teachers.
1. BE PATIENT
Oh boy! You don't know patience until it takes you four times as long to get from point A to point B and you have to wait for others to be available to help you with as something as simple as a glass of water. I've learned to let go of controlling what happens and instead to go with the flow.
2. BE PRESENT
While you are waiting (and being patient, see #1), you learn to be fully present in the moment. You have no choice. I became much more aware of my surroundings. This experience reminded me of the beauty all around me. It also reminded me of the various house projects I'd like to get done. My husband is less excited about this one but it certainly gave new meaning to Be. Here. Now.
3. BE HAPPY WHERE YOU ARE
Ever stuck somewhere and you want to be somewhere else? What about going through a store and only being able to see some of the items while moving at a breakneck speed? Oh yeah, that will teach you to appreciate what is in front of you and let go of what you may be missing.
There are many more observations and insights I gained into human behavior but that's another topic for another time. 😊
Be. Here. Now.
